First Friday: Petal & Place Opens August 7th

Join us for the First Friday opening of Petal & Place, a new group exhibition featuring paintings by Meg Bruce, Julia Dean, Margaret Morris, and Kim VandeBogart. The show opens with a public reception on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:30 PM as part of Lynchburg's First Friday celebration.

Petal & Place brings together four artists whose work finds inspiration in the natural world β€” exploring landscape, flora, light, and atmosphere through paint. The exhibition showcases a range of painterly approaches united by a shared sensitivity to color and place.

The exhibition will remain on view through August 30, 2026.

Stop by the gallery to celebrate the newest exhibition, meet the artists, and enjoy an evening of art in the heart of Lynchburg.

When: Friday, August 7th, 5:00 to 7:30 PM. Where: Lynchburg Art Club & Gallery, 1011 Rivermont Ave.

Gallery Hours:

Thursday - Friday: 1pm - 5pm

Saturday- Sunday: 1:30pm - 4pm

Artist Call: Respond to a Permanent Collection Artwork -- April 2027

Mark your calendars β€” next spring, LAC is doing something we've never done before.

"In Conversation" pairs a piece from LAC's permanent collection with a brand-new work by a member artist responding to it. Choose a piece that moves you, create something in dialogue with it, and see both displayed side by side β€” history and response, together.

It's time for members to weigh in! We're asking the membership to vote on proposed changes to our By-laws. You can vote in person at the Club, or online using the link below.

The Lynchburg Art Club runs because of people who show up.

If you're the kind of person who likes to be genuinely useful β€” helping hang a show, staffing a festival, teaching what you know β€” you'll find your people here. Our members don't just attend. They build something together.
